HSC 2026 Board Challenge: How to Apply Online, Screen by Screen
The full HSC 2026 re-scrutiny application walkthrough: every portal screen, the two-paper rule, and the final Submit step after payment that many students miss.
You have already seen the short version on the homepage. This is the slow version — every screen of the HSC 2026 board challenge application, what it asks for, what can go wrong on it, and the one step at the end that quietly eats applications every year. Applications run from 1 to 7 November 2026, online only, on rescrutiny.eduboardresults.gov.bd.
Before you open the portal
Get three things in front of you. Your admit card, because the roll number and registration number come off it and both must be exact. A mobile phone with a SIM that is active and will stay active — your re-scrutiny result arrives by SMS on this number. And a payment method with enough balance: bKash, Nagad, Rocket, Upay or Sonali Seba, at Tk 150 per paper you plan to challenge.
Decide your subjects before you start, too. Re-scrutiny checks whether every answer was marked and whether the marks were counted and copied correctly — it is not a re-marking, as the homepage guide to what re-scrutiny actually checks explains. Challenge the papers where the numbers genuinely look wrong, not every paper you are merely unhappy with.
Screen 1: your exam details
The portal opens with a short form: roll number, registration number, and a dropdown for your education board. Fill all three and click Submit.
This screen causes more failed applications than any other, purely through typing. Roll and registration numbers look similar and sit next to each other on the admit card — swapping them is the classic error. If the portal says no result found, do not keep guessing combinations. Stop, compare digit by digit with the admit card, and try again.
The board dropdown lists all 11 boards: Dhaka, Rajshahi, Cumilla, Jashore, Chattogram, Barishal, Sylhet, Dinajpur, Mymensingh, the Madrasah board for Alim students, and the Technical board for Vocational students. Pick the board you sat the exam under, which is not always the board nearest your home.
Screen 2: your mobile number
Next, the portal asks for a mobile number. This is not a formality. When re-scrutiny results are published, the board notifies you by SMS on this number, and it is also how the application is tied to you. Type it carefully, read it back once, and use a number you personally control. A cousin's phone or a shop's number means your result message goes to someone else.
Screen 3: subject selection
Your subject-wise result now appears — every subject with its grade. Tick the papers you want re-checked.
One rule shapes this screen: two-paper subjects come as a pair. Bangla and English cannot be challenged one paper at a time; selecting the subject means both papers go in, at Tk 150 each. You will see the running total change as you tick.
Changed your mind about a subject before paying? Use the Delete option next to it to remove it from the list. This only works before payment. Once a paper is paid for, it cannot be removed, cancelled or refunded — the fee and payment guide covers the money side in detail.
Screen 4: payment
Click Pay Fee and the portal shows the total and the payment options: bKash, Nagad, Rocket, Upay and Sonali Seba. Complete the payment in the method you chose, and note the transaction ID — a screenshot is the easiest way.
If the payment goes through but the portal screen does not update straight away, wait a few minutes and log back in before doing anything drastic. Do not pay a second time for the same papers; a double payment for the same subject is not refunded either.
The step people miss: Submit after paying
Here is the trap. Payment is not the end of the application. After paying, you must log in to the portal again and click Submit to send the application to the board. Every year, students pay, close the tab feeling done, and their scripts are never re-checked because the application itself was never submitted.
So treat the process as two separate finishes: money paid, then application submitted. You are done only when both are done. Once submitted, note which subjects you challenged and keep your transaction ID until results are out.
Adding more subjects later
Realised on Wednesday that another paper also looks wrong? You can file a separate application for the extra subjects inside the same window — the boards allow it, as long as you are still before 7 November. The same warning applies to the second application: pay, then submit.
A last check before the deadline
The window closes on Saturday 7 November 2026 and does not reopen. Portals under deadline load slow down, so file early in the week if you can. Once your application is in, the waiting game starts — here is what happens next and when to expect the result.
